TUCSON, Ariz. - Ascending Node Technologies, LLC., a Tucson-based company that develops innovative software to support spaceflight operations, announced that it has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from NASA. The Phase I contract will be used to develop Spaceline, a web-based tool that provides user-friendly, telemetry-based visualizations of spacecraft data for space mission planning.
A persistent mission design challenge is the difficulty of converting complex spacecraft telemetry data into a manageable format for team members' use. Spaceline solves this by creating interactive 3D visual representations of planned spacecraft operations. The web-based product provides rapid visualization of telemetry data derived from NAIF SPICE kernels that can be easily shared across the mission team for comparison, review, and feedback.
Spaceline directly responds to NASA's objective to develop mission design tools that increase the accuracy of mission science modeling and support observation planning. By providing an accessible, sharable science planning platform, Spaceline reduces both cost and risk for spacecraft missions at every stage of development.
The highly competitive SBIR Phase I awards are designed to advance NASA's capabilities for future space missions by supporting innovation from small businesses. Ascending Node was selected in this round for successfully demonstrating Spaceline's technical feasibility. As a Phase I awardee, Ascending Node will now continue developing Spaceline to further establish its scientific, technical, and commercial merit for use in future interplanetary exploration missions.
